Rediscovering Urban Identity

Academic Architectural Project

For this project, I focused on the revitalization of historic houses on Strada Franceza in Bucharest’s Old Center, a street rich in historical significance and architectural value. Originally known as Ulita Curtii, this street still preserves much of its medieval layout and is home to numerous historical monuments.

Rediscovering urban identity

My approach was to carefully restore these heritage buildings while integrating modern elements, ensuring that the intervention respected the unity and coherence of the existing urban fabric. The goal was to preserve the architectural integrity of the area while revitalizing it for contemporary use, enhancing its appeal to a new type of audience.

Key aspects of the project included activating Filitti Street and maintaining the dual character of the plots, allowing them to communicate with both streets. This intervention not only preserves the historical image but also brings fresh, modern elements, creating a vibrant connection between the old and the new.
